The plum burgundy of the handwoven with jacquard saree with water flowers and bubbles printed with mild orange and sea green dots stand in contrast to its otherwise classical origins of Old Kanchi. The border is unusually broad with a traditional Kanchi pattern with thick orange and green horizontal lines, with a simple lined pallu. Made for every day wear, the saree makes for ideal work wear. It’s understated yet classical feel is typical of Old Kanchi and reflects the simple yet luxurious Kanchi cotton, while the motifs and flowers tell another story, from its coastal neighbour, Chirala.
